Managing Attachments
Add additional information relevant to specific test assets. The system displays attachments under the Attachment tab (for requirements, test cases, issues, and test suites). Access these attachments from the test asset's detail or edit page.
The system stores attachments at the entity level, rather than the version level. This applies when attachments are added under the following circumstances:
Adding a test asset
Editing a version of a test asset (Update as well as Save as New Version)
Types of Attachments
supports the following attachment types:
Attachments: Documents, Videos, Images or Files

4 Ways of Adding Attachments
You can attach different types of attachments: files, images, and URL at once in any of the following way:
Drag and Drop: Drag and drop the attachments into the specific area of drop documents.
Browse: Browse the file to add as attachment and upload it by clicking on the Browse section.
Paste: Add attachments to test assets by directly pasting them from the clipboard. This allows you to add screenshots without saving to local machine. Only .png files can be pasted directly into the Add Attachment pop-up.
Enter URL: You can attach reference URL (with "https" protocol) as an attachment. The field type is Large Text to accommodate URLs that are greater than 255 characters.
Note
You can attach a maximum of 100 files. The total size of attached files should not exceed 100 MB.
System does not support these file extensions: (.exe; .dll; .sh; .msi; .deb; .bat)
Attachments added to one version of the test asset are reflected in all versions of that asset.
Individual attachments can also be removed during the upload stage.
While uploading, a clickable thumbnail of the attachment is shown, allowing you to preview it before submission.
View Attachments and Reference
Once the files are attached, you can view the attachments in List View or Strip View.

Copy Attachment URL
Copy the URL of an image or file added to the attachments section. This URL is intended solely for referencing files or images within the application's rich text editor. Deleting the original image or file from the attachment section makes the link inaccessible.
Copy Image Attachment: If the copied link of an image attachment is accessed in a browser directly, then the thumbnail is displayed as unreadable content.
Copy File Attachment: If the copied link of a file (e.g. PDF) is accessed in a browser where you are not logged into QMetry, then you are redirected to the login page. The file can only be downloaded after logging into QMetry.
Delete Attachments
You can delete a single attachment by clicking on the delete icon for that attachment or delete multiple attachments in bulk using “Delete Selected.
Note
If an attachment is deleted from one version of the test asset, it gets deleted from all the versions of the test asset.
For example, there are four versions of a test asset which has three attachments. If one attachment is deleted from version 2, then the attachment gets deleted from all 4 versions.
Download Attachments
You can download, review, update, and reattach attachments.
To download a single attachment: Click the Download icon corresponding to the specific attachment.
To download all attachments at once: Click Download All.
Download from the Preview screen
You can preview the attachment just by clicking on it.
To download the attachment, click on the Download icon at the top right.
View the Progress and Download Attachments
Click on the Scheduled Task icon on the application header to track download progress.
Once the process is completed, click the Download icon for the activity. The attachments gets downloaded in a zip file. Refer Scheduled Tasks to know more.
Embed Attachments as In-line Image in Rich Text Fields
In all the modules (Requirements, Test Cases, Test Suites, Issues, and Test Case Executions), you can add in-line images to rich text fields from the attachment section.
To do this, use Select from Linked Attachments under Insert Image while editing. It displays the thumbnails of images, screenshots, or GIFs that are already added in the asset’s attachment section. Selecting a thumbnail, embeds the attachment in the rich text field.
For example, attachments added to a specific requirement or test case can be embedded directly into the rich text fields of that particular requirement or test case.
Note
In case of Test Case Steps and Test Executions, a dropdown menu allows you to select and embed attachments related to the test case or test steps.
Adding In-line Image in Test Steps:

Go to the Test Case Detail Page and select Steps.
Click Edit.
Select the rich text field (step description, input data, expected outcome or any other user-defined field) to embed the image as a thumbnail.
Click Select from Linked Attachment.
Select test case or test steps from the drop-down menu.
Select the attachments.
Update the test case to save the changes.
Note
Clicking this embedded thumbnail opens the full image of the attachment.
Deleting the original image from the attachment section makes the embedded image inaccessible.
For RTE field attachments of up to 100 MB are supported.
Adding in-line Images in Test Execution
For rich text fields in test execution, such as actual outcomes or comments, you can insert inline images that are attached to the test case, test step, test execution, or test step execution.

Attachments Syncing between Jira and QMetry
Requirement Module
The attachment works independently for requirements. When requirements (stories in Jira) are imported from Jira, the Attachments tab on the Requirements detail page displays Jira attachments by default. To view attachments added from QMetry, turn the Show QMetry Attachments “On”.
Linking attachments from either side whether from QMetry or from Jira does not impact requirements that exist in other applications.

Issue Module
When Jira issues containing attachments are imported into QMetry, the associated attachments are also imported and linked to the issues in the Issue module.
If an attachment is linked to an issue from QMetry, then that attachment will also reflect in Jira for that issue.
If an attachment is linked to an issue in Jira, then that attachment will also reflect in QMetry for that issue.
