Add Comments

Add comments to record additional details about a test asset.

The system displays all comments in the Comments tab on the details page of a test asset.

Also, tThe system maintains all comments at the entity level and not at the version level. For example, if you archive a requirement version, you can still edit the Comment. If you archive the entire requirement, then you can not edit the Comment.

The Comments tab is available to enter the entity-related comments. You can add comments to:

  • Requirements

  • Test Cases

  • Test Suites

  • Issues

Adding a Comment

Note

Get the following permissions to add a comment:

  • Project access permission - to view the test asset.

  • Module "modify" permission - to add a comment to the test asset.

To add a comment, perform these steps:

  1. Go to the test case assets page to add a comment.

  2. Select the Comments tab.

  3. Click Comments.

  4. Enter your comment and save it.

Editing a Comment

To edit a comment, perform these steps:

  1. Locate the comment in the Comments section.

  2. Browse the comments to edit.

  3. Click the Edit icon.

  4. Edit and Save the comment.

  5. The word Edited appears on updated comments. Hover over to see who made the edit and when.

Tagging Users in a Comment

Tag users in the Comments section to enhance team collaboration and communication. Tagged users receive an email notification whenever a comment is added or updated. Tagging also works in bulk comments, sending a single notification for multiple test assets.

Email Notification Rules

  • The system sends emails as per the SMTP Settings configured under Customization.

  • Tag users in the format <@username>.

  • In case of self-tagging, email notifications are not sent.

  • The email includes: Test Asset Keys, a Summary, and the Comment.

Deleting a Comment

To delete a comment, perform these steps:

  1. Hover your mouse over the comment.

  2. Click the Delete icon on the comment.

  3. Click Delete.

Syncing Comments Between Jira and QMetry

When you import requirements from Jira, the Comments tab on the Requirements detail page displays Jira Comments by default. The tab displays the last 10 Jira Comments for the requirement.

To view Comments added from QMetry, turn the Show QMetry Comments “On”.
