Create a Test Suite from a Test Case

Create a test suite by copying common fields from test cases. The test suite's name and common fields are auto-filled from the source test case. You can edit the details later if needed.

Note

  • You must have Test Suite Create rights.

  • The test case or its version should not be archived.

  • To create a test suite from a test case folder, the folder must have test cases within it.

This feature is useful when:

  • You have ready test cases.

  • You want to execute the test suite immediately after adding a test case.

  • The QA Manager wants to track test case executions across test suites that share the same name and common field values

Important

  • A test suite created from a test case is an independent entity. Changes to the test case do not affect the test suite.

  • For eSignature-enabled projects, you can create test suites only from Approved test cases.

  • You cannot create test suites from a shareable test case.

The Create Test Suite from Test Case option is available on the:

  • Test Case List view: Click the inline settings icon for individual test cases.

  • Test Case Detail Page: Click the settings icon at the top right corner.

Create Test Suite from Test Case folder

Create a test suite from a test case folder through Create Test Suite from Folder. The system creates the test suite using the test case folder name for easy reference. You can edit the test suite name later. All test cases in the folder are linked to the new test suite.

To create a test suite from a test case folder:

  1. Go to the test case module.

  2. Right-click the test case folder.

  3. Select the Create Test Suite from Folder.

Note

Shareable test cases are not linked to the test suite.
